Lesley Faulds, an English artist who now lives in America, draws inspiration from the people she encounters and the landscapes that surround her. Her art blends realism with flatness, using classical painting and mixed media techniques to create textures that add depth to pared-down compositions.

 

Faulds distorts proportions of both the figures and landscapes in her artwork.  Her portraits tell stories that evoke an emotional response from the viewer and highlight imperfections of the human form. Whilst her landscapes reflect familiar scenes from everyday life they are twisted versions of reality with vibrant stylized colors, patterns, and textures.
